The Millville District Wellness Team challenged district schools to assemble teams consisting of a minimum of three staff, one student, and one parent or sibling and participate in the 24th Annual Jolly Holly 5K or One-Mile Fun Run on November 29, 2019 prior to the city’s holiday parade. Three schools accepted the challenge and 23 registrations were paid for by the WSCC School Health NJ Project grant.
In addition to paying the registration fees, participating school wellness teams will each receive $100 to spend on wellness events and activities happening at their individual schools this school year. Registration fees from the Jolly Holly event benefit the Millville High School Soccer Alumni Association, the Millville Municipal Alliance, and the Millville Police Athletic League.
The Soccer Alumni Association provides scholarships for Millville High School graduates and sponsors several community events. The Millville Municipal Alliance’s mission is to help lower and optimistically eliminate the use and abuse of illegal drugs, tobacco and other drugs. including the use of alcohol by minors or the abuse by adults, to offer educational programs to change the way children and adults behave and think about the use and abuse of ATOD, and to offer alternative activities that don’t involve the use of ATOD.
The Millville Police Athletic Association strives to benefit the youth of our community through various sports-oriented programs run by officers who volunteer their time to encourage self-confidence, healthy competition, and group interaction among the city’s youth.
